Welcome to Yellow Class
Hello, Welcome to St Stephen's Infants and Yellow Class.
I am really looking forward to meeting you all very soon. I hope you enjoy the story.
Sport Relief Fun
This term we have been learning how to throw and aim when using beanbags and balls with Abby and Will form Bristol Rovers community trust. We have had lots of fun playing games, whilst learning how to throw.
Term 3- Week 1
Happy New Year, I hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas.
Our topic this term is 'Once Upon a Time'. This week our learning has been based on the story of 'The three little pigs'. We have listened to the story, talked about the characters, setting and what happens at the beginning, middle and end and created a story map to help us remember the key events. The children have really enjoyed retelling the story and have been making masks and puppets in the resource area.
In phonics we are starting to learn the digraphs (2 letters that make 1 sound). This week we have learnt the sounds qu, ch, sh and th. In handwriting we practiced writing the letters l (whoosh up, down the long leg) and t (whoosh up, down the tower across the tower).

Term 2 Week 6
We had lots of fun performing our nativity this week and we enjoyed watching the Year 1 dress rehearsal.
We have also been busy this week making Christmas cards, calendars and writing Christmas wish lists.
This week we earned our tenth class smiley face. We came up with ideas for our treat and all voted. We decided on hot chocolate and marshmallows. It was yummy!
Term 2 Week 5
We have been busy practicing for the Nativity. The dress rehearsal today looked great! Everyone in the school said how well we sung the songs.
We hope to see you at the fayre where you can buy Yellow Class's 'schoolmade' reindeer food. We used this experience to write instructions. In phonics this week we have learned j, v, w, and x. We practiced reading CVC words during guided reading and our tricky words: I, to, the, no, go and into. Next week we are going to have a go at spelling them,
This week we have also enjoyed reading Christmas stories. Miss Smith has a special Christmas book box and each day we are reading a new one. So far we have read, 'Bear stays up for Christmas', 'We're going on an elf chase' and 'Aliens love Panta Claus.'
Week 8- Autumn
We have had a fantastic first term in Yellow Class. The children have settled well into school life and have been enjoying school. This week we made hedgehogs out of clay, picked all of the seeds out of a pumpkin using tweezers and spoons, made potions in the water and put together the sounds we have learnt to make words.
Week 6- 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'
As part of our 'All About Me' topic this term we have been reading the story of 'we're going on a bear hunt'. We have joined in with the repeated story language and thought about how the bear was feeling at the end. Most of us decided that he just wanted to be friends and play.
We have also enjoyed sharing our photographs of our family, talking about them and the special times we share. In maths we went on a shape hunt and spotted lots of shapes around school. We also began to describe 2d shapes, using the language of corner and edge.
We have learnt our first sounds this week. They are s, a, t and p. We even put some sounds together to make words such as, pat, sat, as, at, tap.
Welcome to Yellow Class!
We are very excited to be starting a new year with your children. During the Induction period we have been getting to know them. We have played games together, explored the school and introduced the Golden Rules. It's been a great first two weeks with lots of playing an learning taking place. Our topic is 'All About Me', where the children find out about each other, learn names and talk about their families.
In Literacy we are looking at words which rhyme and in Maths we are focusing on counting using 1-1 correspondence.
