Axel Scheffler's official website | Zog

Welcome back!

It's so lovely to be back! We've had a great time learning about Zog. We have done some writing about the dragons we designed and we had fun making Zog models.

In Maths we have been focusing on 'teen' numbers and we have been writing them, plus playing number Bingo!

Next week we are learning about Elmer so if you have the book at home, you could read it!

In Phonics we have done the digraphs

ch, sh, th, ng

This week we have been reading the story Elmer by David Mckee. We have been describing the patchwork elephant and writing sentences about him.

We have been practising our numbers to 20 and focusing on our teen numbers.

In phonics we practised the diagraphs

oa, ow, oo/oo, ue.

Term 1 week 5

We have been finding out more about Elmer this week. It's been great fun thinking of our own ideas for a character in our own story.

In Maths we have been ordering numbers, making 'teen' numbers with Numicon, finding number bonds and saying what is one more and one less with numbers to 20.

In phonics we have been learning:

ai, ay, ee, ea, igh

Term 1, week 6 and 7

Over the last two weeks we have been learning about The Gruffalo and we have done some amazing writing. We have been focusing on using our phonics to sound out words, using capital letters and full stops at the end.

In maths we have been learning about breaking down numbers into parts i.e. 18 is made up of 10 and 8. We have also been adding two numbers together.

In phonics we have been practising the digraphs;

ow, oi, ue, er

See if you can find a word with each of these digraphs in?

The best thing this week was going on a Gruffalo hunt in the woods and finding a big footprint! It was amazing and we loved it!

Here is us having calm time and remembering to breathe slowly.

We had great fun dressing up for our Spooky Day!

We drew our own monsters and wrote about them.
