Hi everyone.

We are all going to miss seeing the children and are looking forward to teaching them again when we can.

We are working hard to get the lockdown learning ready and you will receive a book with activities to do at home through the post. In school we are teaching some keyworker children from Wednesday onwards.

Please do contact either myself or Mrs Otter via email if you have any questions at all. On Mondays and Thursdays we will be doing a 30 minute zoom call to check in and talk about the learning at home.

Please look at the 'Learning' tab and click on Covid 19 Home Learning for information.

In phonics this week please use the following sheet to do at home;

Also please log into your Collins Ebooks so that you can read at home with your child. https://ebooks.collinsopenpage.com/

The books have been updated for each child.

If you would like to share any of your learning with us then please take a photo and email it to the school.

Thanks so much, stay safe and take care everyone.

Phonics Home Learning;     week 2

  • Choose two or three words and practise spelling them with your child.

Thursday- (CVCC words)

  • Use a soft toy who ‘talks’ and ask the soft toy to whisper a word. Can your child write the word down?

(tent, lamp, frog, hand, sink)

  • As a challenge, can your child choose one word and write a simple sentence with it in? What do we always need to remember in a sentence? (Capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.)

Friday- (digraphs)

  • Can you re-read the sight words from yesterday?
  • Let’s focus on the digraphs ‘ur/er’ which both say the same sound. Work on ‘ur’ today- adult to say these words- fur, burn, turn, curl, church turnip

Can your child write them independently using their sounds or with your help?

Zog

Axel Scheffler's official website | Zog

Welcome back!

It's so lovely to be back! We've had a great time learning about Zog. We have done some writing about the dragons we designed and we had fun making Zog models.

In Maths we have been focusing on 'teen' numbers and we have been writing them, plus playing number Bingo!

Next week we are learning about Elmer so if you have the book at home, you could read it!

ch, sh, th, ng

This week we have been reading the story Elmer by David Mckee. We have been describing the patchwork elephant and writing sentences about him.
