Thriving in School

Here at St Stephen’s Infant School we pride ourselves on promoting the emotional wellbeing and mental health of our pupils. With that in mind we are an attachment aware school, having worked closely with Kate Cairns Associates and South Gloucestershire LA to support the development of positive relationships and helping children to understand their emotions and feelings. We are currently working towards achieving the Mental Wellbeing Award.

Working with Children

The skills, knowledge and understanding needed by our pupils to keep themselves mentally healthy are included as part of our developmental PSHE Curriculum. We use ‘The Jigsaw Approach’ to teach PSHE in the classroom.

Mrs Hughes is our Children's Wellbeing Lead across the school, supporting individual pupils and small groups to further understand their emotions and feelings. We have a cosy cottage that can be used as a safe space and activity room for children to work with Mrs Hughes.

If you wish to find out more you can either speak to Mr Doyle or Mrs Hughes.
